You Can Change the World – Right Now

Jon Kabat-Zinn writes in his book, Wherever You Go, There You Are, that “We resonate with one another’s sorrows because we are interconnected. Being whole and simultaneously part of a larger whole, we can change the world simply by changing ourselves.”

How?

“If I become a center of love and kindness in this moment, then in a perhaps small but hardly insignificant way, the world now has a nucleus of love and kindness it lacked the moment before. This benefits me and it benefits others.”

Changing the world doesn’t sound so difficult after all, does it?

(Well, I take that back. It’s not always easy to be kind and loving in this moment.)

“Might you invite a sense of kindness and acceptance and cherishing to arise in your own heart?” Jon asks.

Might you invite it to arise? I love that. Why not extend the invitation and at least see what happens?
